Canada welcomes non-commercial surrogacy. However, Canadian legislation has its peculiarities.
Prior to starting a surrogacy program, a contract between the Intended parents and a surrogate mother is signed, under which IPs cover the medicine and delivery expenses as well as provide financial support to the surrogate mother during pregnancy.
Apart from that, a surrogate mother doesn't receive any additional money for carrying the child. Providing surrogacy, egg or sperm donor services incur criminal responsibility.
Lately the Canadian government has been working on the development of legal standards to regulate these processes.
